Coordinated through Tallahassee Community College’s Office of Enrollment Services and Student Success, the Student-Athlete Success Program provides quality, comprehensive academic services to the Eagles’ student-athletes. Led by counseling specialist Joyce Thomas, members of TCC’s Enrollment Services and Student Success staff facilitate successful entrance into the College and provide continued guidance in the areas of academic planning, career planning and goal setting. Programs and services also promotes growth beyond the College by providing guidance as students work towards future educational and career goals.
TCC’s advising system helps students develop educational and career plans, gives students academic progression and degree requirements, provides resources to help students become academically successful and enhances student retention and success by connecting students to the College through personal interaction. To that end, each semester, Enrollment Services and Student Success coordinates team advising days for the Eagles. With the help of various counseling specialists, student-athletes receive the necessary guidance to ensure they stay on track to the ultimate goal of earning an associate’s degree from Tallahassee Community College.
In addition to superb interpersonal assistance, student-athletes have access to one of the nation’s most dynamic learning facilities — The William D. Law, Jr. Learning Commons, a comprehensive, integrated learning center that provides learning assistance and resources in the areas of mathematics, science and communications. The Learning Commons offers students a broad range of services including diagnostic assessment, learning materials and electronic resources, individual conferences, one-on-one and small-group tutoring, whole class support, workshops and seminars, success strategies, technology and multi-media support and assistance in developing and assessing individual learning plans.
