LUBBOCK, Texas (March 19, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College will open play in the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship at 1 p.m. Tuesday against Western Nebraska Community College.
All games are being played at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University.
When the 11th-seeded Eagles, ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA, face the No. 22 seed and 22nd-ranked Cougars (29-4), it will mark the tournament's only opening round game featuring two at-large participants in the 24-team field.
Tallahassee earned an at-large bid on the strength of its 24-6 record, a wire-to-wire run inside the NJCAA top ten and its second-place finish in the rugged Panhandle Conference, which has three of its five teams in Lubbock. In addition to Tallahassee, two-time defending national champion Gulf Coast State College and Northwest Florida State College are in the tournament.
The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the Round of 16 and an 8 p.m. eastern match-up on Wednesday against No. 6 seed Wabash Valley (Ill.) College.
All NJCAA Tournament games will be streamed on NJCAA TV on a pay-per-view basis. Individual games are $4.99 while a tournament pass can be purchased for $12.99.
NJCAA TV is available online at NJCAATV.com as well as through Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Apple TV.
