TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 6, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College officially opened preseason basketball practice on Monday. Tomorrow, the Eagles will tip off their scrimmage schedule by hosting the annual Southeastern Jamboree.
Seventeen teams from Florida, Alabama and Georgia will converge on the Bill Hebrock Eagledome for, arguably, the top two-year jamboree event in the country. Three games will be played simultaneously beginning at 11 a.m. The final round tips at 7 p.m.
In addition to Tallahassee, the lineup of men's teams includes three of the Eagles' four Panhandle Conference rivals – Chipola College, Gulf Coast State College and defending state champion and 2018 national tournament participant Northwest Florida State College – and eight other schools from Florida.
Eastern Florida State College, who finished third in the 2018 national tournament, headlines the remaining Region 8 entries in the jamboree. The Titans will be joined by the College of Central Florida, Daytona State College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, Hillsborough Community College, Polk State College, Santa Fe College and St. Petersburg College.
The remaining five teams scheduled for the Southeastern Jamboree are Albany (Ga.) Technical College, Shelton (Ala.) State Community College, Coastal Alabama Community College-South,the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie, the 2018 Region 10 Runners-up, and South Georgia Technical College, the 2018 Region 17 Runners-up.
Tallahassee will play a total of four games, beginning at noon against Santa Fe. At 1 p.m., head coach Mark White's Eagles will play Eastern Florida State, who is coached by one of White's pupils, Jeremy Shulman.
Tallahassee will play another set of back-to-back games at 6 p.m. vs. Hillsborough and 7 p.m. vs. Central Florida.
General admission is $10. Children 12 and under will be admitted free.
