#TCCBaseball shuts out Pirates to open series

PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 5, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College opened a four-game series against Pensacola State College with an 8-0, eight-inning victory on Friday evening.

The Eagles are now 24-16 on the season, 5-8 in Panhandle Conference play. 

Tallahassee led 3-0 after two innings, scoring each of its runs with two outs, then added two more in the third for a 5-0 advantage. 

Meanwhile, Tallahassee starter Logan Lacey (3-1) managed to avoid trouble. He allowed only four hits and three walks over 6.2 innings and teamed with Collier Baggett (1.1 IP) on the shutout. 

The Eagles extended their lead with a run in the sixth and two more in the eighth. 

Jeff Athey was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to lead Tallahassee offensively. 

The teams will play a doubleheader at Eagle Field beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday.
